The upcoming Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) operating system got brand new Lightware stylish themes. No more Human theme! The new look will also be applied to Ubuntu’s derivatives Kubuntu and Xubuntu.
What’s New In Ubuntu 10.04 Appearance ?
Canonical will use a new font style for their logos, new banners, a new design for the ubuntu.com website & for the freely available Ubuntu CDs, and, last but not least, a whole-new look for the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS operating system. The new style is called “Light.”
Why Light?
“We’re drawn to Light because it denotes both warmth and clarity, and intrigued by the idea that ‘light’ is a good value in software. Good software is ‘light’ in the sense that it uses your resources efficiently, runs quickly, and can easily be reshaped as needed. Ubuntu represents a break with the bloatware of proprietary operating systems and an opportunity to delight to those who use computers for work and play. More and more of our communications are powered by light, and in the future, our processing power will depend on our ability to work with light, too. Visually, light is beautiful, light is ethereal, light brings clarity and comfort.”
Being an Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Long Term Support) release, Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) will be definitely stable, reliable and a good-looking open source operating system! The main plans are to make Ubuntu 10.04 LTS a bug-free operating system and bring quality improvements to the user interface, boot and installation experience, and top-notch hardware support. Another essential goal for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) will be to improve the startup speed to a 10-second boot!
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) will be the 12th release of the Ubuntu operating system. At the moment, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is in an Alpha state. Beta version, due for release in late April this year!
