OS X Mavericks is the most powerful OS X ever and also the most power efficient. Your apps automatically benefit from energy saving technologies in OS X Mavericks, and new APIs help you make them even more efficient. With new AV Kit frameworks, Sprite Kit, Map Kit, and more, you can build your most incredible apps yet.
Apple released OS X Mavericks Developer Preview 5 recently, adding a number of tweaks and fixes, but also the first implementation of iBooks on the desktop. Developers can download this OS X Mavericks DP5 from Mac Dev Center.
As you’d expect, the software retains all its original functions from the iOS version and expands the feature set with a few new options of its own, as well as better navigation features (thanks to the expanded real estate on the computer screen).
iBooks will be a free service in OS X Mavericks, and it will have full access to the iBooks Store when the new Mac OS debuts this autumn.

I’m surprised it took this long to get iBooks on the Mac, but better late then never. Can’t wait to the public release of OSX Mavericks and iOS 7.
