Whenever I open a new post or try to edit an old post I get an error “Failed to load plugin url: xxx.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/”. Why I get this error and how to fix this issue?
WordPress came up with new post editing tool called “Gutenberg“. I don’t like the Gutenberg features and it kills post publishing and editing time. WP Classic makes it so much easier to just code when you want to code instead of coding individual blocks at a time. So, personally I love WordPress Classic Editor!!!
How to get WordPress Classic Editor?
- In order to get the old WordPress Classic Editor follow the below steps.
- Login into your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Plugins and Search “Classic Editor”
- Click Install button to install the Classic Editor plugin.
- Activate the plugin.
- Now go to the Settings –> Writing page in your WordPress admin area.
- You will see the option to do this under “Classic editor settings”.
- Finally save changes.
If you launch a new post or try editing an old post you can see “WordPress Classic Editor” is back to place.
WordPress and TinyMCE Advanced: Failed to load javascript
Now coming back to our issue. Some users like me started facing “Failed to load plugin url: xxx.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/” only after switching to Classic Editor instead of using the new Gutenberg.
- And there is nothing wrong with Classic editor and this issues is due to Jetpack plugin.
- You can follow the below steps if you are not using Jetpack’s Contact Form.
- If you are still having problems with the Edit mode because of the error, can you try to go to:
- xxxx.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack_modules
- [where xxxx.com is your website’s domain]
- Locate Contact Form from the list and Disable it as shown in the below screenshot.
Then refresh the Edit form and the error shouldn’t pop up. It resolves the error xxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/
Hope these steps will solve your issues.
