I have already discussed in detail about what is dofollow and nofollow blog.I recommend you to first read this post if you are unaware of what I am talking about. Let me give a quick intro about the topic,
Dofollow Blog
A dofollow blog means it allows search engine spiders to crawl and follow the link. If you comment on a dofollow blog a backlink will be created, thus the search engine spiders will crawl your link back to your site. Thus it will give some SEO benefits for your site.
Nofollow Blog
A nofollow blog means just the opposite. It doesn’t allow search engine spiders to crawl and follow the link. If you comment on a nofollow blog, thesearch engine spiders will not crawl your link and will not follow your link back to your site. Thus it won’t boost SEO for your site.
How to check whether a blog is dofollow or nofollow?
The following methods allow you to find out a dofollow or nofollow blog instantly without even using a third party’s tool (like Firefox Add-ons).
The shortcut Key to View source code of any page in Web browsers like IE, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome is CTRL+U.
Here I have provided step by step procedure,
If you use Google Chrome, just follow the following steps:
- Open Google Chrome.
- Type a blog url(Eg: http://www. hackyourblog.blogspot.com) and hit enter
- Open a Post.
- Press CTRL+U to view the source code of the blog post page.
- A new source window will open, Press CTRL+F
- Type nofollow and search the source code.
Note:
In the above screenshot, nofollow appears in comment section.Make sure you find nofollow in comment section. If you don’t see nofollow in the comment section, then the blog is a dofollow blog.
Internet Explorer users follow the following steps:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Type a blog url and hit enter
- Open a blog post.
- In Internet Explorer menu bar Click on View –> Source
- A source window will open, Press CTRL+F
- Type nofollow and search the source code.
- If you don’t see nofollow in the comment section, then the blog is a dofollow blog
FireFox users follow the following steps :
- Open FireFox browser
- Type a blog url and hit enter
- Open a Post.
- In Firefox menu bar Click on View –> Source
- A source window will open,
- Now Press CTRL+F
- Type nofollow and search the source code.
- If you don’t see any showing up in the comment section, then the blog is a dofollow blog
Feel free to discuss in Geekyard. It’s a Dofollow blog. Just provide valuable comment and get a back link.
hey this is cool i dont know this is so simple.
Thanks.!!
There’s actually a free plugin for Firefox which automatically tells you whether a link is norfollow by highlighting all nofollow links. You can search for it online though.
Very infomative. Appreciate all the tips. I have been wondering how to tell if certain blogs are dofollow or nofollow. I think this really is the best thing ever. Having spiders crawl back to your site, and thanks for letting us comment and being a dofollow!! I do have one question though…below the comment I see this XHTML, and then “tags”, what is this code? What is it for? where do you put it?
wow that’s great information. thank you very much, especially the tip to check “nofollow” in the comment.
Great tips. I think there is a firefox add on which also tells you if the blog is do or no follow. Can’t remember the name as I read about in a forum and never got around to installing it.
This is my very first time here, really good looking blog. I found a lot of fascinating things in your blog especially its discussion. From all the remarks on your posts, it looks like this is a extremely popular website. Keep up the good work.
